Georgia hospital noted for Lean healthcare

Northeast Georgia Health System is one of the largest organizations in Georgia. It has upward of 5,000 employees and 500 physicians, and with that scale comes complexity. Fortunately, by employing Lean healthcare, the company has been able to not only provide top-notch care to patients, but also bolster efficiency.

Employees within the company frequently feel empowered by the workplace, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. NGHS holds regular town hall meetings where caregivers at every level can meet with senior executives and discuss possible changes that could be made to improve workflow. Even if certain changes can't be made, the company is quick to tell employees so as to remain transparent.

“We want them to be [as] empowered and efficient as they can be, to have a sense of ownership about the journey,” Carol Burrell, president and CEO of the organization, told the news source.

Healthcare Finance News recently reported that more healthcare facilities are beginning to leverage the Lean approach as a means of managing staff and developing a smooth workflow environment.
