Police department cracks down on waste

The police department that governs Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, has turned to Kaizen practices and philosophies as a way to crack down on wasteful processes and procedures that cause the unit to run over budget and out of time.

More than 17 employees of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police recently graduated from a one-week course in self-improvement that was based on Kaizen mindsets and principles. The graduation ceremony of the course was attended by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, the director general of the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, as a way of voicing his approval of the initiative.

“The course highlighted the importance of introducing methods of continuous improvement along with strategic thinking development and all-round quality philosophy,” The Khaleej Times reports. “The Kaizen experience is known to significantly lower wastage of resources and time, and in return increase revenue.”

No matter how established specific processes are within a workplace, there are always ways to improve them. Businesses can utilize Kaizen to identify innovative new ways of identifying and removing wasteful procedures.
