The East African country of Tanzania is planning to kickstart national economic development by using Kaizen to enhance its manufacturing sector, the Daily News reports.
Joyce Mapunjo, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, recently noted that Tanzania is already reaping the benefits of Lean healthcare and has successfully integrated Kaizen into its industrial and service sectors.
“The superiority of Kaizen is recognized all over the world,” she said, as quoted by the news source.
Now, the country is prioritizing the integration of Lean manufacturing through several government initiatives, including the Five Years Development Plan, the Integrated Industrial Development Strategy and Master Plan, the Long Term Development Perspective of Vision 2025 and the three-year Kaizen project that Mapunjo signed off on earlier this month.
By streamlining processes, cutting costs and boosting product quality, Kaizen can effect a wider scope of change on a much larger scale for the companies and nations that implement it. According to Yukihide Katsuta, chief representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency's Tanzania office, the manufacturing sector development is expected to attract foreign investors, reduce the country's reliance on importation and generate more jobs.
