Company looks to integrate Kaizen with grant

Boyd Coatings Research, a company that applies high-performance coatings to specialized medical, industrial and aerospace products, recently received a Workforce Training Fund Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The grant gives companies funding to launch in-depth training programs that will help them improve operations.

The coatings application business has decided to use the grant to fund its Kaizen transformation. The company will hold a “Lean manufacturing as a team” training initiative to help bring employees up to speed on Kaizen and equip them to deliver customer service leadership excellence over the next two years.

“Boyd Coatings Research is committed to its employees and to providing resources which improve our productivity,” remarked Donald Garcia, president of Boyd Coatings. “This, in turn, enhances our company's abilities to improve on deliveries for our customers. In the end, everybody wins.”

Kaizen can be a difficult concept to understand and successfully integrate. Training initiatives may be the extra assistance that companies need to successfully implement Lean processes and programs and complete their Kaizen transformations.
